In 2015 I was doing well, my audience, while not growing geometrically, showed steady increases and I felt that I was on my way. I also started doing real estate on the side because the Florida market was chock full of opportunities. I had purchased a course on distressed real estate investing from Mike Gazzola. As part of the intro, he offered to take me on a property tour of Lee County Florida, an area that was devastated by the 2008-09 crash and was just starting to emerge.
I joined Mike on the tour and found that I really had a love for this business. The idea of taking properties that often needed much work and turning them into inviting places where people wanted to live and raise families, really excited me. I made an off the cuff remark to Mike that was to start me down a new path in podcasting. I said, “Mike you need to do a podcast. We’ll talk real estate and foreclosures and tax deed sales and it will be a hit.” He liked the idea and immediately and enthusiastically agreed. Thus was born the hit podcast, “Real Estate Investing That Works.”
I became the co-host, technical guy, producer and my producer Melissa was responsible for editing and posting the episodes. The show was doing quite well; getting a couple of thousand downloads per episode when I had a brainstorm. Why not put it on the homepage of FSN? The first episode posted on the site rapidly got 20,000 plus downloads. After each new episode, I repeated the process and achieved similar results. Our most widely heard show received over 30,000 downloads! Gee, audience building is so simple. Hardly, we got lucky. To date the show is approaching the magical 1 million-download number. Mike’s gotten hundreds of qualified leads and has sold many courses to dedicated podcast listeners.
